costs for successful applicants
The musician selected for the Creative Project Development Residency receives a scholarship covering all tuition fees, free accommodation in Verbier, daily lunch and tickets for Festival concerts (subject to availability). Students are responsible for round-trip travel costs to Verbier, as well as all other meals and personal expenses. The Academy contributes CHF 400 for cellists travelling by plane with their instruments. Please note that the Academy will not cover accommodation or lunch, and will not provide concert tickets, for collaborators who are not performing.
refund policy
Application fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
audition repertoire
Candidates must provide a YouTube link or upload a video for each of these requirements (a separate file for each video):
- A recording of standard repertoire (solo or chamber music for instrumentalists; song or aria with piano or orchestra for singers). For instrumentalists, recordings of a single movement of a work are preferred. Recordings should be approximately 10 minutes long and must be no more than 18 months old.
- A promotional video of a concert project that pushes the boundaries of the traditional concert experience OR a live recording or demo of a concert project in which you perform. Recordings must be no more than 18 months old.
For all audition videos, please identify the work, the orchestra (if applicable) and the recording date in the file title. Each video must be in a separate file/link.
audition video
Please read ALL the following instructions before beginning your application or recording your audition videos:
- You will find tips for making a high-quality audition video here.
- Please note that you must upload four separate video files corresponding to the requirements indicated in the Audition Repertoire section. Each recording must be made in a single take, without cuts or editing (unless it is a professionally produced video from a live performance filmed with multiple cameras).
- Consider the size and acoustics of the room as well as your distance from the camera: the more reverberant the room, the closer you should stand to the camera (generally about 3 metres).
- The use of artificial reverb or any other audio modification in post-production (editing, splicing, etc.) is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
- Watch and listen to your recordings to ensure they accurately represent what you wish to present to the jury.
- Attach your videos to your application by uploading the video files (accepted formats: MP4, MPEG, MPG, MOV, AVI, WMV, M4V, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M2V).
- Once your application is submitted and the application fee paid, you will no longer be able to return to your profile to add a video.
faq
Q: I will be under 20 or over 30 on 1 July 2027. Can I still apply?
The Academy does not generally accept applications for the Creative Project Development Residency that do not meet the age criteria indicated.
Q: Is the sound quality of the application videos really important?
Yes. Sound quality is very important for the evaluation of your video audition. Please refer to the Audition Video section above.
Q: Can my CV be written in a language other than English?
Yes. We accept CVs in English, French, German, and Italian.
Q: When and how will I be informed of my audition results?
Candidates will be informed of results via getAcceptd no later than 5 March 2027. If selected, you must confirm your participation no later than 9 March 2027 (7:00 PM EST).
Q: Is there a structured programme that I will follow as a Creative Project Development resident?
The Creative Project Development Residency is largely a self-directed programme. The Academy is looking for musicians who wish to make the most of the Festival experience, immerse themselves in its world and embark on experimentation and the exploration of new ideas. The teaching team is there to help you bring your projects to life. You will therefore take part in numerous reflection and brainstorming sessions with members of the team, as well as with the other artists who will surround the resident during their stay in Verbier. Residents often find that it is difficult to anticipate what will be possible to achieve in Verbier before having actually spent a few days at the Festival. In other words, musicians who approach this residency with an open and flexible mindset, accepting to “go with the flow”, will get the most out of this experience.
