Rotem Nir is an Israeli conductor and bassoonist. Starting from this season Rotem is serving as a permanent assistant conductor in the Israeli Opera. Just before his appointment, Rotem made his house debut last August with “La Traviata”, when he assisted the company’s music director Dan Ettinger and conducted two shows. In addition, Rotem continues his role in the Israel Chamber Orchestra as an assistant conductor (started 09/2020), where he conducts regularly in subscription concerts, educational concerts and special projects. During 2019-2022 Rotem played in the Israel Symphony Orchestra as an associate principal bassoon. Last February he made his conducting debut with the orchestra in subscriptions concerts series. After winning an audition for conductors held by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra last year, Rotem will conduct this season in the orchestra’s “IPO for kids” series. Since 2014 Rotem is supported by the America-Israel cultural foundation.
